If “consignment shop” makes you think of dimly lit, disheveled racks crammed with yesterday’s throw-away clothes that smell like Grandma’s attic, Polkadots Consignment Shop will change the way you look at consignment forever.
Begun as a little, start-up storefront in Guilderland, Polkadots’ upscale approach to consignment shopping has struck a chord with local families, paving the way for two recent expansions and plenty of compliments!
Owner Saydra Doyle, a Guilderland resident, first opened Polkadots Consignment Shop in Guilderland in March of 2008. This past fall, she opened a second location in Clifton Park just off exit 9 of the northway in D&G Village Plaza.
Now, after 6 years in business, Polkadots has made another expansion into a new, bigger and better Guilderland location in Karner Plaza, right down the corner from 155 and Western Ave. They are holding a grand opening there this weekend (more details on that below).
When you walk into the new Guilderland Polkadots Consignment Shop, you immediately notice the open, airy feel. The floors are clean, and the shop is more organized than most families’ living rooms. The racks and shelves are filled with fashionable clothes and accessories for the entire family from high end retailers, the kind of clothes that get you all excited and giddy about what you just found at such a great price. Their “trendy boutique” feel elicits a positive response from shoppers who often comment on their excellent, clean, good smelling clothing and items while saying it’s a “happy” place to shop.
…and not just shop! Being a consignment boutique, Polkadots has a few different options for those looking to sell, including fast cash or consignment.
A grand opening ribbon cutting event for the new Polkadots Consignment Shop in Karner Plaza is planned for Saturday, March 29, 2014. The public is invited to come in and check out the newest store for this local “consignment shop for the entire family” as well as enjoy all kinds of door prizes and perks.
Polkadots may easily become your new favorite place to shop. With their new location just five minutes from Crossgates Mall, why not check them out before heading to the mall (where you’ll pay full price for clothes you can get for a fraction of the price)?
