First, it was Smashburger..with not only one, but two locations in both Saratoga and Colonie. Who can hate a burger that is smashed, seared and seasoned to perfection right in front of you? Then, it was Sonic‘s announcement of opening eight Capital Region locations. The first will be opening its doors on Route 7 in Latham this Spring. As a Capital Region native, I grew up seeing commercials for Sonic all the time and I am very excited to check out the famed retro drive-in burger spot in real life!
But, that’s not all that’s coming to the area…

BurgerFi, the nickname for “Burgerfication” is a franchise based in Florida and is making it’s way to the Capital Region this Spring! Angelo Mazzone, owner of the always-popular Albany staple 677 Prime has teamed up with the Lia family (Yes, the car dealership!) to bring BurgerFi to the area.
The first location will be opening in a few short months in Latham, with another being developed in downtown Saratoga Springs. The restaurant will feature grass-fed beef burgers, Kobe beef hot dogs, fresh-cut fries with a diverse assortment of toppings (Parmesan cheese, house-made chili, and Cajun spices… just to name a few) along with craft beer and wine!
The Capital Region definitely has and is continuing to step up their gourmet burger game! Which spot are you most excited to try? Let us know in the comments below!
