What is being called the “Chipotle of pizza” (sounds like heaven), otherwise known as Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza will be opening its first upstate New York location at Mohawk Commons in Niskayuna. It has been backed by celebrity investors such as Lebron James, Maria Shriver, Boston Red Sox co-owner Tom Werner and movie producer John Davis.
Blaze Fast Fire’d Pizza will be setting up shop where the Barnes & Noble once was on Balltown Road. Construction will begin in the coming weeks and its doors are planning on opening in September.
The franchise operators are New York City based and are currently in the process of negotiating two other upstate locations in the Albany and Saratoga regions.
The Blaze experience is very similar to that of Subway or Chipotle. Customers can order from a menu of pre-selected fresh toppings and sauces to build their own original pizza or can pick a “signature” pizza that has already set ingredients. From there, customers can watch employees build their meal in an assembly-line style fashion.
The experience is also fast! In under three minutes, your wood-fired pizza is ready to eat. The only downside to this awesome pizza spot? Blaze unfortunately doesn’t deliver as most neighborhood pizza parlors and chains do.
Ken Brownell, co-principal at Vanguard-Fine LLC told the Albany Business Review, “It really embraces the millennials who say ‘I want to make pizza my way.’ It’s ‘me generation’ pizza.”
