The City of Albany, Albany Public Library, and Exit 97.7 want YOU to participate in the Tulip Mania Music Project! This is your opportunity to help revive the long-lost Tulip Festival song “When Tulips Bloom Again.”
“When Tulips Bloom Again” was written in the 1950s, but was recently rediscovered by local history buff Julie O’Connor. It has been years since the song has been heard, even though it once was an important part of the Tulip Festival tradition.
The Tulip Mania Music Project is an open invitation to musicians of all styles to record their own interpretations of the song. A select number will be chosen to perform their versions of the song, as well as original Tulip Festival-inspired material, at the Tulip Mania Music Project event at the Albany Public Library Main Branch on Wednesday, May 6 at 6pm. In addition to the free concert, the Library will also showcase its Tulip Fest history collection.
If you’re interested in submitting your interpretation of “When Tulips Bloom Again,” you can find more information and the sheet music here.
