For the fifteenth consecutive year, New York City-based Ajkun Ballet Theatre (AjkunBT) will be returning to The Egg Performing Arts Center. In honor of the occasion, the company will be offering two of its performances free of charge this summer!
The 2015 residency will open on Sunday, July 26 at 7:30pm with a performance of Leonard Ajkun’s newest contemporary ballet, America. At noon on Wednesday, August 12, AjkunBT will present a “Behind the Scenes” event as part of the “Made in the Shade of The Egg” series. The first of the company’s free events will be this sneak peak of the creation process for some of their works. The residency will conclude on Friday, August 14 at 6pm with the second free event – a performance of Chiara Ajkun’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The official press release reports that “over 400 of the best dancers from 130 countries have set foot in The Egg during the AjkunBT residencies” since they began in 2000. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this renowned dance company in its 15th year in Albany!
