Missed Albany’s Tulip Festival this past weekend? No worries! We have all the details from the celebratory Mother’s Day weekend including who took home the crowns for Tulip Queen and Mother of the Year!
In addition to standout performances from The Kooks and Oh Honey throughout the weekend, the always beautiful tulips and great craft vendors scattered around the park, two lucky ladies took home crowns at this year’s Tulip Festival!
Alexandra Cronin of Selkirk, one of five finalists, was crowned the 2015 Tulip Queen on Saturday at a ceremony in Washington Park. Cronin is currently enrolled at the University of Albany and has plans to become a physician’s assistant. In her free time, she has helped organize Relay for Life events and a Christmas toy drive for children in local hospitals. Her main goal that she hopes to accomplish during her reign as Queen is to incorporate more exercise into the classrooms in the community. The Tulip Queen Coronation is one of the many traditions that took place once again at Albany’s 67th annual Tulip Festival.
Carol Dutcher of Ballston Lake also took home a crown this past weekend after being named Mother of the Year on Sunday amongst five other finalists. Over the years, Dutcher has been a mother to over 40 foster kids and as well as her own children. As read in the Troy Record, Dutcher’s daughter stated, “She’s literally the most selfless person you could ever meet.”
Congratulations to both Alexandra Cronin and Carol Dutcher from all of us at Albany.com! We’ll see you at next year’s Tulip Festival!
