You may recall nearly 4 years ago when we first brought you the story of a young Capital Region lady who was about to embark on a vegan food tour around the country.
With very little cash and a lot of faith in people’s generosity, Kristin Lajeunesse of Hoosick Falls had a mission to visit all 50 states and sample and review every 100% vegan eatery each had to offer, including restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops and food trucks.
As her dream led her on an 18-month journey, she documented her reviews on her personal blog, Will Travel For Vegan Food.
Some people praised her, some criticized her, and some just couldn’t wait to learn more about her trip and discoveries!
Well, now the waiting is over. Lajeunesse has just released a complete digest of her travels, a memoir about the 18 months she spent living in a van and off of donations, traveling around the US in search of vegan food.
Published by Vegan Publishers (out of Boston), the book is quite appropriately titled Will Travel For Vegan Food and can be purchased from Amazon.
Hot off the press, the book hasn’t even been out a month, and it has already received over 65 rave reviews from readers. Throughout all of the reviews, some adjectives kept popping up again and again: honest, inspirational, funny, emotional, moving, amazing.
Those who have read the book are saying things like:
“This book IS about everything. Her travels, relationships, struggles, passions, highs, lows and food. I was so INTO the book. I didn’t want it to end.”
“A worthwhile read for anyone looking for inspiration to follow your dreams- vegan or not!”“I became deeply invested in the story. I felt like I was riding shot gun with Kristin as she drove across the country. I could practically taste each meal she ate thanks to her descriptions. Kristin’s words left me with some intense food cravings and a deep desire to go on a road trip.” “I read the book in a matter of hours, I wasn’t able to put it down. I cried, I laughed, then I cried again, and then I ended with a big smile on my heart.”
If you wanted to know more about Lajeunesse’s adventurous pursuit of vegan food across the nation, or if you’d like to share an inspiring story with others, this book sounds like a great read or a great gift! Learn more about the book and read full reviews.
