Digging around your pockets or purse for quarters with a huge line behind you waiting to get on public transportation is anything but enjoyable. However, the CDTA has plans in motion to stop the hassle altogether.
Want to take the CDTA’s newest feature for a spin? This week, the CDTA announced that it is looking for customers to pilot test the new Navigator smart card and mobile ticketing system. The new system will allow customers to prepay their fares, and offer new customer features and innovative technology.
While employee pilot testing is underway, the CDTA is in search of groups of customers to participate in the pilot test. Customers will use Navigator in a live environment for a set amount of time and report back their experience. Pilot testing groups will be assembled throughout the summer with actual testing beginning in the fall.
So what is the Navigator exactly? It’s a program that will offer two easy, reliable and secure options for customers when they go to pay their bus fare: a plastic smart card or the ability to load fares onto their smartphone through a free mobile app. When Navigator is fully implemented, it will improve CDTA’s current fare products by providing auto load capability, balance protection and a more user-friendly online interface for online orders.
