Editor’s Note, July 19, 2015, 1:00 PM: The City of Albany is moving the Dad Fest Event to the Corning Preserve Boat Launch, due to the threat of inclement weather. The Launch is located under the 787 overpass at Water and Colonie Streets. We have updated this article to reflect this new location.
For 67 years, Capital Region mothers have celebrated their special day at Albany’s Tulip Festival during Mother’s Day weekend. But what about the dads of Albany? Shouldn’t they get their own day of festivities dedicated to them, as well? Drumroll please… Enter Dad Fest, a new, free Father’s Day tradition that will kick off this summer at Corning Preserve Boat Launch!

If you’re looking for something special to do with the dad in your life on Father’s Day, look no further than Dad Fest. A day full of great live music, delicious food and family friendly fun? Sounds like the perfect way to celebrate Father’s Day to us!
Dad Fest is a great opportunity to round up your family and friends to kick back and enjoy a summer afternoon at one of Albany’s most beautiful parks surrounded by good folks, good tunes and good times.
Dad Fest will feature live music from The Neanderthals, Eddie Angel’s Guitar Party, Super 400 and the Wonderbeards. In addition to a fantastic music line-up, there will also be a barbecue, beverage tastings, dad-centric retail vendors, friendly competitions (mustache contest anyone?) and more. It all takes place along the scenic Hudson River waterfront on Sunday, June 21st from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
We hope to see you at the inaugural Dad Fest later this month!
