On Thursday, June 25, the Center Square Association hosts the 40th year of their Hidden City House & Garden Tour, adding backyard gardens to the tour this year.
This self-guided tour gives you the opportunity to peek inside the historic homes of Center Square Neighborhood and stroll through their lush backyard gardens, which are often hidden from public view. Along the journey, your eyes will be opened to a whole new hidden world within the heart of Albany!
From spectacular floor-to-ceiling mirrors and lavish wallpapers to ornate moldings and other elaborate details, these 19th century homes boast intricate architectural details and period decor reminiscent of years past. They are some of Albany’s oldest homes and deserve to be on display!
Center Square residents Judith and Neil explain that most of these homes have been renovated several times over, but extreme care has been taken to preserve original details, resulting in homes that are truly spectacular yet full of historical charm.
Outside, brownstones, bricks and wrought-iron stair rails greet you, welcoming you to open the doors of history. Join the Hidden City House & Garden Tour next Thursday for its 40th year, and see what hidden treasures await you!
