A new entity is challenging the public perception of flea markets. Troy Flea, a self described “destination for artists, ‘upcyclers’ and vintage treasure hunters,” will be opening for the first time this Sunday, and is unlike any flea market you’ve ever been to!
In a statement, Troy Flea organizer Jessica McEnaney said, “You won’t find tube socks and overstocked shampoo, or handbags from China at this flea. This is all about fun and kitsch, beautiful, eclectic and weird things that artists will be drawn to.” Some of the vendors you’ll find at Troy Flea include those selling vintage and antique clothing, vinyl records, furniture, and housewares. There will also be a master plasterer, jewelers, and crafters.
Troy Flea will be open this Sunday, July 19, from 11:00am – 4:00pm, and every Sunday thereafter until October 4. The Riverfront Park location has space for 70 vendors and two food trucks.
McEnaney is already exploring options for a year-round, indoor Troy Flea location, and is optimistic about the market’s potential. Those interested in vending at Troy Flea should call 518-331-5338, as open enrollment will be running throughout the season until the space is filled.
