Upper Union Street in Schenectady is getting ready for the annual Harvest Fest and Art Show on Saturday, October 3rd! Get the scoop:
On Saturday, October 3rd, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a four block corridor of Union Street from Garner to Palmer Avenues will transform into the 10th Annual Harvest Fest & Art Show. The event is free and open to the public!
Something new from the Upper Union Street Harvest Fest & Art Show this year comes from Stockade Station, a local arts consortium. Several member artists will be painting “plein air” at locations on Union Street. Visitors are welcome to chat with the artists about the Schenectady cityscapes that will be created on canvas.
Tesoros Café will feature an artist’s meet and greet for the current exhibit of “Magical Mandalas” by Marion C. Leap, MFA. St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish Youth Ministry will also host its annual Vendor Fair in the school gym from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM during Harvest Fest. Guests are encourage to attend both events and are able to park at St. Kateri.
Harvest Fest will also feature live music throughout the day. Acclaimed keyboardist Noreen Pratt will play on the patio at Sondra’s Fine Jewelry from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, while Skip Parson’s Clarinet Marmalade will be at Gersons from 11:30 Am to 1:30 PM, among others. There will also be pony rides to benefit the Upper Union Street Scholarship Fund, a flea market to benefit Home Furnishings, Animal Foundation initiatives and pink hair extensions, along with pink faux tattoos by hair Razors Salon at Sondra’s Fine Jewelry in support of breast cancer awareness.
What would Harvest Fest be without great food? The grill at Gershons’ will serve up bratwursts, burgers and a number of sides. Additionally, other restaurants on Union will also offer food specials throughout the day.
