This regular event continuously draws thousands of people out to enjoy art galleries, music venues, fine restaurants, and unique boutiques. This month’s theme for Troy Night Out is Made in Troy, USA.
2. 19th Annual Alternative Prom
Friday, May 27
Available for youth ages 19 and under, APROM is a casual, inclusive, and welcoming alternative to traditional high school proms. Come out for an evening of dancing, socializing, and making friends. Enjoy music from DJ Bob Hawley and DJ Sean McLaughlin, door prizes, snacks and beverages, a free souvenir photo booth, and more.
3. Camp In on the Underground Railroad
Friday, May 27 to Saturday, May 28
Sleep over in the place where history happened! Meet Stephen or Harriet Myers, play games the Myers children played, learn about the life of abolitionists in Albany in the mid-1850s, and more. Tickets include dinner, campfire (weather permitting), breakfast, and a keepsake coloring book. Most appropriate for ages 8 to 12.
4. GottaGetGon Family Folk Music Festival
Friday, May 27 to Sunday, May 29
This traditional, intimate, and family-friendly folk festival is put on by a small handful of volunteers and is designed for folks who believe music is a part of life. Adults, teenagers, and children can partake in this event of shared music and friendship.

The CrossFit games are the world’s premier test to find the fittest person on the plant. The Times Union Center is hosting the second qualifying stage for the fittest men, women, and teams from Eastern Canada and the Northeast US. Single day tickets and three day passes are available.
6. Guided Walk: Beauties and the Beasts
Saturday, May 28
Calling all hikers – amble through the mixed habitat of the Vlomankill Trail and Birdwatchers’ Path to see all the beautiful and interesting sites on this guided walk.
7. 2016 Summer Exhibition: The Fields Sculpture Park
Saturday, May 28
Come and join the 25th anniversary of the Summer Exhibition, offering creative exploration for all – a circuit of artist talks in the fields, tractor rides through the park, arts activities for children, and light refreshments. There will be a special public preview of ReActor by Alex Schweder, and Ward Shelley will be on view in the fields of Architecture Omi.
8. Sprint for Soldiers Albany 5K & 10K
Sunday, May 29
This race held at the Albany Corning Preserve is a competitive yet fun and friendly event. The timed race allows you to run, jog, or walk the scenic route with family and friends. Participants can enjoy music, food, and an awards ceremony for top race performers. Proceeds are to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
9. 2016 Albany Memorial Day Parade
Monday, May 30
Albany’s annual Memorial Day Parade starts out on Ontario Street and Central Avenue, proceeds down Central to Washington Avenue, and ends at North Hawk Street just east of the Capitol.

In addition to Albany’s fantastic Memorial Day Parade, there are many other parades taking place in and around the Capital Region. Half a dozen are happening on Memorial Day, with even more over the entirety of the holiday weekend. Find the one closest to your area.
