Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out these five events taking place in and around Albany!
Friday, May 13
The popular family-friendly, dog-friendly food truck event returns! Come out to enjoy Downtown Albany with this food truck festival in Tricentennial Park. Take in the live music and browse the artisanal vendors – and of course, enjoy the food! Make an evening out of it by popping into one of the many Downtown pubs.
Friday, May 13, to Sunday May 15
Albany goes Greek for three days! Check out continuous live Greek music and Greek dancers in traditional costumes, authentic Greek cuisine, a Greek pastry shop, Greek souvenir and jewelry shops, amusement rides for young children, and more!
Saturday, May 14
This year’s festival is bigger and better than ever! It not only honors the wild blue lupine – the only food endangered Karner blue butterflies eat at the larvae stage – but it doubles as an awesome block party. Come out and enjoy this family-friendly event with live music from The Refrigerators, craft and food vendors, face painting, a morning bird walk, a kids parade and sing along, and so much more.
Saturday May 14 to Sunday May 15
Join the Washington Park Conservancy volunteers and friends digging up tulips in the beds at the Moses statue, following last week’s Tulip Festival. Tulips are dug on Saturday, with limited quantities available for volunteers, and bags of tulips are made available for sale on Sunday for just $5 a bag. Bring home some of Albany’s beautiful tulips to enjoy at home next spring, when the perennials bloom once again.
Sunday, May 15
Pride season starts off with a dance party! Dance on three floors at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom in Troy. DJ Jeminii will be spinning hot dance music from the 1970s to today. The party includes hors d’ouvres and lite fare, a cash bar, and complimentary soft drinks.
