The Tri-City ValleyCats are opening the 2016 season this week with major highlights going on this weekend.
On Friday and Saturday, the ValleyCats open for the official season with the Connecticut Tigers in a two game home stand.
Friday night’s game features two giveaways: 2016 schedule magnets for everyone, and the first part of their All-Time Team card set for the first 1,500 attendees. Fireworks will follow the game.
This game is sponsored by the Rensselaer County Department of Health, with National Grid presenting the card set giveaway. Fireworks are courtesy of Market 32.
Saturday night’s game features three events: the 11th Annual Father’s Day Home Run 5K, Hops and Hits, and the second game of the home stand with the Tigers.
The Annual Father’s Day Home Run is a collaboration between the ValleyCats and the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club. The road race begins and ends at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Each participant will receive four tickets to a 2016 ValleyCats regular home game, excluding July 4th.
Hops and Hits is a three-hour, all-you-can-eat buffet dinner with craft beer tasting.
The game against the Tigers Saturday evening has a 60s Night – Summer of Love theme, and will also end with spectacular fireworks presented by Market 32.
On Sunday the 19th, the ValleyCats are hosting a Father’s Day Brunch from 11:30am to 1:30pm. Come out to enjoy an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, play catch on the field at “The Joe,” and take home a personalized photo magnet and premium box ticket voucher.
The ValleyCats have a great lineup for the rest of the season as well. Games always include at least one promotion or special event, so there’s always something fun going on. Check out the full schedule for more details.
