It’s going to be a great weekend in the Albany area – the famous Clydesdale horses are making an appearance at a certain fair, and we’ve got five other great events for you to check out.
1. Downtown Residential Open House
Friday, August 19
The Downtown Residential Open House is the perfect opportunity to check out available rental opportunities in the area – eight properties will be showcased, including two brand new apartments. Pick up a map at Tricentennial Park and take the free, self-guided tour through the downtown developments.
2. Movies Under the Stars: E.T.
Friday, August 19
Come out to see one of your favorite classic movies – for free. Head down to Ridgefield Park in Albany at 7:30 to enjoy family fun and live music; the movie starts at 8:30.
Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 21
The fair is going on all week and wrapping up this weekend, so stop on by while you still can. See amazing shows like the Pirates of the Colombian Caribbean, a high wire aerial thrill show. And, on Saturday the 20th, the Budweiser Clydesdale horses will be at the fairgrounds – you’ll have a chance to take a picture with these amazing animals!
4. Freedom Park Summer Concert Series: Up All Night
Saturday, August 21
The dynamic local band Up All Night is playing at the free summer concert series in Freedom Park in Scotia. This concert series is happening through August 27th, so you only have a few more chances to see these great bands at no cost!
5. Sprint for Soldiers Troy 5K & 10K
Sunday, August 21
Plan Ahead Events presents Sprint for Soldiers, happening in the RPI Tech Park. The fun and competitive race will be raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. There will be music, food, and an Awards Ceremony for the top race performers by age groups and teams.
6. Tri-City ValleyCats vs. Hudson Valley Renegades: Pirates & Princesses Night
Sunday, August 21
The ValleyCats are taking on the Renegades on Pirates and Princesses Night. Be sure to dress up like a pirate or princess! After the game, ladies will have a chance to dig for a diamond treasure, and there will be post game fireworks. If you missed the Clydesdale horses at the Altamont Fair, you’ll have another chance to see them this evening at the game!
