The largest one-day street festival in Upstate New York is back! Head on down to Lark Street in Albany for an amazing line up of bands and hundreds of vendors with artisans, food, and more. Performing this year is: The Relationship, Ought, Lower Dens, Delicate Steve, the Televisionaries, and more!
Hoosic Valley Harvest Festival
Saturday, September 24
There will be tons of farm fun at this harvest festival happening at Schaghticoke Town Hall in Melrose. Get ready for fall produce, pumpkins, apples, maple syrup, garlic, mums, Indian corn, and more. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the live music!
Apple & Honey Festival at Schenectady JCC

Check out a craft fair and more at the Apple & Honey Festival at the Schenectady JCC in Niskayuna. There’s plenty of fun for the whole family, including Rosh Hashana activities, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, a kid/parent obstacle course/one-mile run, and of course, apple and honey tastings.
Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain
Saturday, September 24 and Sunday, September 25
Oktoberfest in Hunter is actually four weekends along – this weekend kicks off the major event. This festival features live entertainment, great food, crafts for kids, and more – all with a German and German-American theme. This weekend is the Gestalt BMW Automobile Rally, where you can check out the finest in German engineering among BMW owners.

2016 Capital Region Walk to End Alzheimer’s

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s comes to the Capital Region at Siena College in Loudonville. This is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Register today as an individual, or join a team.

The Fam 5K rotates the proceeds each year to one of five different local charities. This year, the run/walk benefits the Schoharie County Community Action Program. Come to the Cobleskill Fairgrounds in Cobleskill to join in on this great cause – also enjoy refreshments, entertainment, a barbecue, and more. There’s also a kids run!
The Sage Colleges Centennial 5k Run/Walk
Saturday, September 24
Join the Sage Colleges at their Troy campus to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 1916 founding of Russell Sage College. The race goes through historic downtown Troy, starting on First Street. Hang out afterwards for live entertainment, street vendors, and games.
St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

The Crossings of Colonie in Loudonville is hosting the St. Jude Walk/Run to end childhood cancer. Help raise money for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Form a team, or invite your friends or family to join you – kids are welcome!
13th Annual Crossings 5k Challenge and Kids Runs to Benefit Colonie Youth Center

Runners and walkers are welcome at this run/walk and kids fun run at the Rudy A. Ciccotti Family Recreation Center on Aviation Road in Albany. All proceeds are going to the Colonie Youth Center, which provides the greater Capital Region with numerous recreation and fitness opportunities, as well as childcare and counseling services.
Sunday, September 25
The sixth annual Columbia County Rotary Ride is happening in Volunteer Park in Valatie. This is a 10-mile fun bike ride for everyone, a 30-mile road ride in the Kinderhook area, and a 62-mile gravel grinder ride on dirt/paved roads (road bikes are fine) throughout scenic Columbia County. All are welcome and can join in the free cookout after the ride. The event benefits the Cycle Kids program at Ichabod Crane Elementary School, and other Rotary charities.

The Watervliet United Methodist Church is hosting a rummage sale. Pick up clothing, shoes, accessories, books, toys, and more for just $6 a bag – brand new clothes and furniture will be priced separately.
Maple Shade’s Farm and Flea Market
Saturday, September 24
A variety of crafts, farm products, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, and more can be found at the Maple Shade’s Farm and Flea Market in Selkirk. There will be 20 to 30 vendors to browse while you listen to live music from Brian Allen. The highlighted food vendor is Dolan Dogs.
Children’s Festival and Book Sale
Saturday, September 24 to Sunday, September 25
A combination children’s festival and book sale is happening at the East Greenbush Community Library. The festival involves food, raffle prizes, bouncy-bounces, and entertainment with balloon animals from Tots the Clown and face painting from JoJo. The festival is on Saturday only, with the book sale running all weekend. Browse children’s books for all ages, AV materials, and childcare materials for parents – prices range from $0.50 to $2.00!
