The Harbor Center along the Mohawk River in Schenectady is coming together! A ceremonial groundbreaking was held on October 13th for the massive project, which is now officially under construction – here’s what we can expect by the end of next year.
Harbor Center is expected to include the following:
- A 39,000-square-foot building with 13,000 square feet of retail space and 26,000 square feet of office space
- A 65,845-square-foot building with 21,820 square feet of retail space with 44,025 square feet of office space
- Shared underground parking between the two buildings for 288 cars, and 226 surface parking spaces
The Harbor Center will be next to the Courtyard Marriott, which just opened on October 20th, and an apartment building called The Riverhouse; it is also near the Rivers Casino & Resort that’s expected to open in February or March of 2017. Harbor Center is predicted to be completed by the end of 2017.
The $27 million office and retail complex is part of the $150 million Mohawk Harbor development. According to the development’s website, Mohawk Harbor is “a place where people and businesses want to be.”
The Mohawk Harbor site will consist of waterfront businesses, shops, and more, with residents and visitors able to walk to the development right from downtown Schenectady. Mohawk Harbor is currently leasing waterfront retail and restaurant space.
