Have you been hearing the buzz about the new casino set to open in Schenectady? Word has come out that the project is ahead of schedule and will be opening in just a couple of months!

Rivers Casino will open its doors on Wednesday, February 8th, General Manager Mary Cheeks has announced; the opening date was initially expected to be sometime in March. The casino will open just days after the anniversary of the facility’s groundbreaking on February 3, 2016.
The first of the slot machines arrived at the building on December 6th – the casino is expected to have 1,142 slot machines in addition to 67 gaming tables and 15 poker tables – but that’s not all!
The casino will also have an events center, entertainment lounge, day spa, marketplace, a large steakhouse restaurant, and a hotel. There will also be a marina with 50 boat slips.
Additionally, the Galesi Group is partnering with the parent company of Rivers Casino, Rush Street Gaming, to add Riverhouse apartments; Galesi Group is a real estate company. These apartments will be just down the road from the casino.
“This is not about a casino,” David Buicko, CEO of Galesi Group, told News10 ABC. “This is about a regional asset. This is one of the largest mix use of developments going on in Upstate New York, actually New York State as a whole. It’s about a lifestyle. A place where people can eat, live, gamble, sleep, play, and work and boat.”
Are you planning on checking out the casino? First guests on opening day are expected to be treated to a slew of special promotions and events!
