Almost one year ago today, Rivers Casino & Resort in Schenectady celebrated the start of construction, and now, the grand opening is nearly here. In a recent announcement, the casino revealed it will open its doors for the first time at noon on February 8th, and most of the entertainment facilities will be open to the public.
Developed by Rush Street Gaming, the $330 million Rivers Casino & Resort will be the first Las Vegas-style casino in the Capital Region. It is located at the site of the Galesi Group’s Mohawk Harbor project, a master planned community.
For many, Rivers Casino & Resort’s 50,000 square foot gaming floor, which includes 1,150 slots, 67 gaming tables, and a 15-table poker room, is the main appeal. When the casino and gaming floor open, players will be able to immediately earn points using the property’s Rush Rewards Player’s Card.
The casino’s Rush Rewards membership is free to join, and to earn points, all the player has to do is insert their card into a slot machine or present it to a table dealer before beginning a game. Free play, food offers, and valet parking are just some of the membership’s benefits.
In addition, guests will have access to the casino’s entertainment lounge, Van Slyck’s. On opening day, the lounge will host a lineup of live music from local bands and DJs, and in the future, it will also feature televised sporting events.
For those of you under the age of 21, you’ll be able to check out the casino’s five different restaurants: Dukes Chophouse, FLIPT, Mian, Johnny’s To-Go, and Villa Italia.
If you’re planning on attending the casino’s grand opening, then there are a few details you’ll want to be aware of:
- First, the casino will open at noon, and crowds are expected.
- When you arrive, follow the directions of the temporary signage, Schenectady police officers, and casino team members.
- The casino has 1,700 parking spaces, and valet parking will be offered starting at 6:00pm.
