Love mac and cheese? Enjoy one of your favorite winter comfort foods at the Albany Capital Center on Eagle Street this Friday. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships return to Albany with the MAAC-n-Cheese Fest! You’ll have a chance to sample gourmet mac and cheese dishes from local restaurants as well as a variety of craft beers. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door.

The Barrel Saloon on Broadway in Albany isn’t letting the cold weather get them down – come check out their BarrelFest, happening in a huge heated tent! Ten different bands will be playing with Skeeter Creek headlining, and there will be house-smoked barbecue foods and beer as well. Tickets are $18 online or $20 at the door.

The popular Kidz Expo returns to the Empire State Plaza this Saturday! Admission is free and there will be tons of activities and entertainment to keep your little ones busy – meet and greets with characters, theater performances, bounce rides, arts and crafts, and more. There’s an even a Reptile Adventures room!

There’s free admission to learn to skate this weekend at the Empire Skate Plaza – although reservations are required – and free skate rentals as well! If you or your kids have ever wanted to learn how to skate now is your chance to enjoy this wintertime activity in Albany. Skating at the plaza is only available until March 12th, so get out there while you still can!
Family Fun: Dr. Seuss Read-A-Thon

Come and celebrate the genius of Dr. Seuss at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar. Follow along with favorites like The Lorax, Yertle the Turtle, and more – and get ready for an appearance from the Cat in the Hat! Admission is free.
Theater and Music
Friday, March 3 to Sunday, March 5
You’ll have three chances to see this classic book brought to life at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady – Friday at 7:30pm, Saturday at 7:30pm, and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for students under 18 and seniors. This show is appropriate for ages 8 and up.

The Broadway sensation Wicked is also playing at Proctors this weekend, and you definitely won’t want to miss out on what the New York Times has called “the defining musical of the decade.” Ticket prices vary and the show times are as follows: Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm, Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 1pm, and Sunday at 6:30pm.

Head to Revolution Hall for the fourth annual Dustin Mele Memorial Concert! Featured this year are musical acts like Emerald City, the Ernie Williams Tribute Band with Jeremy Walz, Off the Record Trio featuring Bill Harrison, the Kyle Bourgault Band, and more.
This concert was started in honor of Dustin Mele, son of Emerald City’s Joe Mele, who lost his life to suicide in 2013. Proceeds are to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and other charities.
