The tulips in Washington Park have bloomed a little earlier than usual. Don’t wait for Tulip Festival – visit the park this week to see over 150 different varieties of tulips!
City gardening crews have planted over 140,000 tulips, intended to bloom at the Tulip Festival, but with the nice weather we’ve been having the flowers have peaked a little early.
“We’ve been blessed with an early spring this year and with an early spring comes early tulips,” said City Gardener Jessica Morgan in a statement. “We encourage everyone to visit Washington Park to enjoy the beautiful tulips in full bloom.”
Although there will likely be some late-blooming tulips during this year’s Tulip Festival, according to Morgan this week is the best time to see the flowers.
Worried Tulip Festival won’t be everything it usually is? No worries! There will still be tons of entertainment, vendors, kids activities, and more.
