This weekend is the last of the four-weekend long Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain, where they’re having a wine tasting. You can also catch a fall foliage hike, spooky 5Ks, great live music, and more fun in and around Albany.

Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain: Wine Tasting & Farmer’s Market and Doxie Derby

Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain, a little over an hour from Albany, is looking pretty awesome this weekend with wine-tasting, a Doxie Derby, and more fall fun. Wine tasting vouchers are only $10 which provides you with tastings from a number of area wineries. The Doxie Derby on Sunday will involve Daschunds racing to a finish.
Foliage & Migrations at the Pine Bush

Enjoy fall foliage at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve on a 2.6-mile hike. Registration costs $3 per person, or $5 per family. You’ll get to see the vibrant colors of fall amidst the rare ecosystem of the Pine Bush.

It’s that time of year – birds are ready for migration. Come to an early morning event at the Pine Bush to see the science team in action as they capture and band birds to track their migration patterns.
Spooky 5Ks, Walks & Races

The annual family-friendly 5K run/walk Running SCCCared is happening at The Crossings in Loudonville. Day-of registration is available for $30. There will be a 1-mile walk/run as well as a 5K, and activities, food, and more for families. This event benefits St. Catherine’s Center for Children.

There’s a Monster Scramble 5K, 10K, and 1-mile trick-or-treat happening at Liberty Ridge Farm in Schaghticoke. This is a Halloween-themed, chip-timed run through one of their spooky sites. Don’t want to get scared? Choose the trick-or-treat route and collect treats along the way. Costs vary.

The Pumpkin Walk is happening once again at Columbia-Green Community College in Hudson, about 45 minutes from Albany. Take a stroll along a path completely lit with jack-o-lanterns carved by artists and kids in the community. The cost is $6 the day of the event, with proceeds going towards the Mental Health Association.
