Troy Chowderfest is back for its 11th year! Try a variety of chowders from nearly 20 different restaurants and vote on your favorite for the People’s Choice Award. There will also be family-friendly fun with activities, games, and entertainment, and live music happening throughout the day.
Saturday, October 7
Sample a variety of chicken wings throughout downtown Schenectady this weekend and vote on your favorite. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for kids and students. New this year, the Schenectady YMCA is providing childcare during the event for $5 per hour, but you must register by Friday. Attendance is being capped for this event, so reserve your tickets in advance!

A harvest festival is taking place on Upper Union Street in Schenectady with food, a bounce house, face painting, musical performances, nonprofit groups, sidewalk and porch sales, and more.

The Goold Orchard Festival at Goold Orchards in Castleton is now in its 29th year. If you haven’t apple picked yet this year they’ll have pick-your-own apples at the festival, along with live music and entertainment, craft vendors, horse-drawn wagon rides, and more.

The fall festival at Maple Ski Ridge in Schenectady is happening this Saturday with a full craft, car, and tractor show. In addition, you can take a scenic chair lift ride to the top of the mountain and kids can play in the Kids Zone.

You can still register to be a part of the world’s largest and most successful fundraising event for breast cancer, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. As per usual, the race is taking place in and around Empire State Plaza in Albany.

The third annual Drink Albany, a New York State craft beverage market and tasting event, is taking place at the New York State Museum. You can try craft beverages from a number of area breweries and producers, like Albany Pump Station and Indian Ladder Farms. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door.

The fourth annual Upstate’s Alright involves a number of bands performing live at both Pauly’s Hotel and The Low Beat in Albany. There will also be a “punk flea market” and a vegan hot wing eating contest.

This is Not a Test: Montreal-Trained Clown Presents One-Man Show

Local performer Aaron Marquise, a professional clown who has trained in Montreal, is putting on a different kind of show this weekend. This is Not a Test consists of a one-man clown performance – he’s a non-scary clown – who is surprised to awaken to an audience staring at him. Tickets are $20, or $15 for kids 12 and under, and the show is taking place at The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy.
