The holiday fun continues in the Albany area! Happening this weekend: a holiday-themed 5K going through the lights in Washington Park, several holiday markets to get your shopping completed, and two more holiday events.

A 5K and Holiday Lights
Saturday, December 9
The wildly popular Last Run 5K to benefit St. Peter’s Cardiac & Vascular Center is happening this Saturday, and as of this writing, registration is still open. Registration costs $30, or if there are still available spots on Saturday, it will be $35 on the day-of. The race goes through the festive Capital Holiday Lights and they’ve added additional spots for this year!

Through Tuesday, January 2
Not into running outside in the cold? Don’t forget the Capital Holiday Lights are up from now until the second of January in Washington Park. It costs $20 per vehicle to drive through the amazing light show, and proceeds go towards Albany PAL’s juvenile crime prevention programs.

Friday, December 8 to Sunday, December 10
The Half Moon Holiday Pop Up actually consists of two separate markets you can check out: The Half Moon Market West Elm Pop Up Shop, which is taking place all weekend at Stuyvesant Plaza, and the Half Moon Market Center Square Mini Market, which is just on Sunday and is happening on Madison Avenue.
Friday, December 8
The Fort Orange General Store is hosting a holiday market with 20 vendors that will rotate each week; the market is happening this Friday and the next two Fridays. Adjoining businesses in the Arcade Building – Albany Center Gallery, Stacks Espresso Bar, and Bombshell Hair & Beauty Studio – will be open with specials, art exhibits, and more.
Saturday, December 9 to Sunday, December 10
Babes in Troyland is a two-day indoor holiday market at the Takk House in Troy with vendors, cocktails, entertainment, and more fun. If you’re looking for a different kind of Santa experience, you might give this event a try, as there will be a “naughty” Santa in attendance.

Altamont Victorian Holidays and Village Stroll
Sunday, December 10
If you missed the Troy Victorian Stroll last week you might want to check out the Altamont Victorian Holidays and Village Stroll this weekend. Vintage village homes have been restored and decorated for the season, with house tours available for $5 with trolley transportation included. There will also be a number of free activities and entertainment going on throughout the day.

The Empire State Aerosciences Museum in Glenville is celebrating Christmas by having Santa arrive from the North Pole by plane! Santa will be available for photos, and there will also be food, drinks, baked goods, and more fun, along with all the museum has to offer.
