Have you ever been curious about art but didn’t know where to start, or didn’t think you’d be any good? This is the event for you! One Giant Try It is a completely free event happening at The Arts Center in Troy where you can try your hand at various art mediums. Mush clay, hammer metal, break glass, and more. Instructors will be on hand to guide you and provide materials, and projects are geared towards all ages.
Get Your Green on for St. Patrick’s Day

The 68th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be happening in Albany, with the route starting out on Quail Street and Central Avenue. A mass will be held beforehand at Blessed Sacrament Church on Central Avenue.

Love some beer with your eggs for St. Patrick’s Day? Head over to LAX on Lark on Saturday for a full breakfast buffet before heading out on a pub crawl. Tickets are $20 to $25.
Go Green at the Pine Bush Preserve

Looking to do something a little different for St. Patrick’s Day? “Go green” in a different way at the Albany Pine Bush Preserve. They’re hosting a workshop where you can learn how to turn old tee-shirts into cloth bags you can use as shopping bags. Admission is $3 per person or $5 per family.

Maple Sugar Open House at 5 Rivers
Saturday, March 17
Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar is hosting a Maple Open House this Saturday and next Saturday as well. You’ll get to twirl a brace and bit drill, pound a spike, inspect the sap flow, and more – including a maple taste test. Free admission.
Backyard Maple Sugaring at Grafton Lakes State Park

Learn all about how sap is turned into syrup at Grafton Lakes State Park and taste test some syrup for yourself. The cost is $2 per person or $5 per family.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake is back and is happening at Spare Time in Clifton Park. Get together with a team or four or five people, contribute $25, and then bowl your hearts out. The cost includes two games, shoes, pizza, and a drink.

New York State’s largest golf expo will be taking place this weekend at the Times Union Center. Check out equipment and apparel for sale, and much more. Tickets are $10 to $15 per person and kids under 12 are free.
