Fusion: Albany Barn’s Anti-Gala

Albany Barn is putting on their annual Anti-Gala this Friday and you will not want to miss out on this important fundraiser. There will be a specialty menu from local chef Michelle Hines Abram, craft beers from Druthers Brewing, hot tunes from DJ Trumastr, artist and chef challenges, and more.

The Goold Orchard Apple Festival is now in its 30th year! Pick your own apples and pumpkins, enjoy live entertainment, ride in a horse-drawn wagon, sample wine, and browse craft vendors.

If you’ve never been to the Half Moon Market at the Washington Park Lakehouse you’ll definitely want to make a point to stop by this weekend. There will be over 40 vendors in attendance, a beer and cider bar by Pint Sized, food trucks, tarot readings, and a DJ on Friday night.
Oktoberfest at Hunter Mountain: Wineries in the Catskills

This is the last of four Oktoberfest-filled weekends at Hunter Mountain, a little over an hour from Albany, so head down this weekend if you haven’t checked it out yet. The theme for this last weekend is Wineries in the Catskills, so you can expect a number of wineries in attendance featuring locally-crafted wines.

This fun 5K is one of the more popular in our area, and it raises money for St. Catherine’s Center for Children. Registration is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the race and it’s happening at The Crossings in Colonie.

The 12th annual Pumpkin Walk is happening at Columbia-Greene Community College. Participants take a stroll down a path of lit jack-o-lanterns carved by kids and artists throughout the area, and registration is only $5 in advance or $6 the day of the event.
Upper Union Street Scholarship 5K & Oktoberfest

The Harvest Festival & Art Show on Union Street from previous years has been rebranded into a new event for this year: the Upper Union Street Scholarship 5K and Oktoberfest. This is a community run/walk to raise money for scholarships for senior high school students in Schenectady County.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk

The annual Light the Night Walk is happening at Siena College, and it raises money for those with leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease, and myeloma.

The fifth annual 5K for Domestic Violence is taking place at Jennings Landing. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 the day of the race.
Get Into a Spooky Mood
Spectres, Strange Sights, and Visions

Sit by a roaring campfire at the Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site on Saturday night to hear ghost stories and learn about what “spectres” can tell us about beliefs during Philip Schuyler’s time. You must register for this one by Friday the 12th, and there’s a suggested donation of $3.

Did you know you can take a haunted tour of the Capitol building, for free? Tours are happening at select times, including on Saturdays, through November 2nd. Spots fill up quickly for this one, so register ahead of time!
