Hit the Ice at the Empire “Skate” Plaza
The Empire “Skate” Plaza Ice Skating Rink at the Empire State Plaza in Albany is now open for the 2018-19 season. Visitors can enjoy free ice skating daily (weather dependent) beginning at noon, and ice skate rentals cost $3 for kids 12 and under and $4 for adults. On Saturdays, rentals are free!
Attend Theatrical Productions of All Your Favorites
Celebrate the holidays with the family at The Egg’s Hart Theater during Saratoga City Ballet’s 25th Anniversary production of The Nutcracker. Directed and choreographed by Beth Fecteau, this memorable performance will get audience members of all ages into the holiday spirit. The ballet will be performed three times this weekend: Friday at 7:30pm and Saturday at 2:00pm and 7:30pm.
Travel over the rainbow with Dorothy and experience a beloved tale come to life as Proctors presents a magical production of The Wizard of Oz. This faithful adaption of the classic film will take place on both Friday and Saturday.
Explore Indoor Fun for the Family
Join the Children’s Museum of Science & Technology (CMOST) this Friday for their festive Ugly Holiday Sweater Day, which will feature an ugly holiday sweater greeting card activity. In addition, if you wear your ugly sweater to the museum, you will receive a free pass for a future visit to CMOST.
Have you ever wanted to safely look at the sun and search for sunspots? Head over to the Dudley Observatory at miSci in Schenectady for their Sunny Sundays event. Visitors with paid museum admission can access the observatory from 1:00pm-2:30pm and check out the 14-inch telescope.
