In celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Memorial Observance and Beloved Community March will take place at the Empire State Plaza on Monday, January 21 (MLK Day). The theme of this year’s event is “King’s Vision: Humanity Tied in a Single Garment of Destiny,” and it will feature guest speakers/presenters, performers, and more.
Attend the Memorial Observance at the Convention Center
On Monday, the celebratory event will begin with a volunteer fair at 9:00am, and then the full Observance program will kick off at 10:00am. Highlights will include:
- 2019 Keynote Speaker Rashad Jennings (Former NY Giants Running Back and “Dancing with the Stars” Champion)
- Performance by Lillias White (Tony Award-Winning Broadway Vocalist)
- “King the Man” Video Moment
- Invocation by Rabbi Linda Motzkin
- Benediction by Reverand Ronald Grant
- And more guest speakers and performers!
Join the Beloved Community March
Following the Memorial Observance, at 11:30am, the Beloved Community March will take place inside the Empire State Plaza Concourse, directly outside of the Convention Center. The procession will conclude at the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Seeds of Enlightenment” Sculpture on the North Concourse.
