Experience the Fun of Tulip Fest Weekend
Don’t miss the 71st Annual Albany Tulip Festival in Washington Park during Mother’s Day Weekend. Tulip Fest is the city’s signature spring event and features annual traditions rooted in the community’s Dutch heritage. Check out over 100,000 colorful tulips in the park, listen to live music, browse vendors and handmade crafts, and celebrate the season!
Enjoy a guided walking tour within the original perimeter of Beverwyck on Friday morning. It’s a great opportunity to learn about the city’s Dutch heritage before witnessing the traditional street scrubbing ceremony that kicks off Tulip Fest.
Attend an Out-of-This-World Astronomy-Themed Event
Join miSci in Schenectady for a memorable evening of libation and scientific exploration at their AFTER DARK: Beers & Black Holes event. Attendees will learn about black holes with fun activities, enjoy stargazing in the observatory, and be able to buy delicious craft beer, cider, and wine from the cash bar. This is a 21 and older event.
Find Fantastic Fairs & Festive Events
Head over to the Bethany Reformed Church in Albany and purchase some plants at their annual sale. Just in time for Mother’s Day, they will be selling hanging baskets, patio pots, geraniums, annuals, perennials, vegetables, and more. The sale is open to the public on both Friday and Saturday.
Take a trip down to Catskill this Saturday and attend the 2019 Rip Van Winkle Wine, Brew & Beverage Festival. Hosted by the Fortnightly Club of Catskill at the Historic Catskill Point, this fundraiser festival will feature a variety of wineries, breweries, distilleries, and craft beverages, as well as craft and food vendors.
Visit Basilica Hudson this weekend and check out all kinds of local, handmade, and vintage items at their Farm and Flea Spring Market. Admission is $5 for the whole weekend, and kids under 12 get in for free.
On Saturday from 9:00am-3:00pm, The Ladies Auxiliary of The Rotterdam District #2 Fire Department will host their Flea Market in Schenectady. There will be many vendors to explore, food, snacks, drinks, and a raffle table. Admission is free.
St. Jude the Apostle will present their annual Car Show and Transportation Fair on Saturday from 9:00am-3:00pm. This popular event typically attracts about 100 cars and bikes from around the region. The 2019 event will include an interactive area for specialty vehicles and a play area for the kids.
