Capital Region locals: here’s your chance to act on a television set and appear in an upcoming HBO miniseries! Grant Wilfley Casting is looking for background actors for The Plot Against America‘s upcoming shoots on-location near Albany, Hudson, Coxsackie, Kingston, and Bloomville.
Filming is scheduled for Monday September 23 through Thursday September 26, and locals are encouraged to apply to be paid background actors for all or some of the days. The selected extras will be fitted for their wardrobes prior to filming.
Adults of all ages are needed for the scenes, including Caucasians and African Americans. They’ll be playing a variety of roles, including Jewish family members (child actors are also needed), farmhands, firefighters, police officers, and National Guard members, all from the 1940s.
As The Plot Against America is a period piece, men and women will need to have or be willing to be given 1940s-appropriate haircuts. Modern buzz cuts, fades, braids, dreads, highlights, and ombres aren’t allowed, and women’s hair must be chest length or shorter.
The six-part miniseries is based on Philip Roth’s alternative history novel of the same name and created by David Simon (The Wire). The plot depicts a parallel world in which Franklin D. Roosevelt lost the 1940 presidential election to Charles Lindbergh.
