Fall is in full swing, and with it has come dropping temperatures. If you’re looking for a way to give back to the community this season, consider donating to the 2019 Cash for Coats Drive. The City of Albany has partnered with The Palace Theatre, Albany School District, and Lodge’s Department Store to once again provide cold weather clothing to local kids in need.

Cash for Coats will be accepting generous monetary donations of any size, which will be used to purchase coats and other winter wear from Lodge’s Department Store at a special discounted price that will help stretch your donation further.
If you’re attending an event at The Palace Theatre this October, it’s easy to contribute to the drive while you’re there. The City of Albany representatives and the Albany Tulip Queen and Court will be on hand at several October events to collect donations:
- Friday, October 4 — Incubus
- Saturday, October 5 — The Pretenders Premiere
- Thursday, October 10 — Jerry Seinfeld
- Wednesday, October 16 — 107.7’s Secret Jam
- Sunday, October 20 — Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – Family Fun Day
- Friday, October 25 — Nick Offerman
- Saturday, October 26 — Kansas
Not attending any of these events? That’s okay — you can still drop by The Palace Theatre Box Office to donate. You also have to option to contribute online via the City of Albany’s GoFundMe campaign, or in person at Lodge’s Department Store, Albany City Hall, or at the offices of the following organizations: the Downtown Albany Business Improvement District Office, the Central Ave Business Improvement District, and the Albany County Convention and Visitors Bureau (at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center).
If you prefer to contribute through the mail, you can send a check made payable to Cash for Coats/Lodge’s Department Store to the following address: Cash for Coats, City Hall, Room 402, Albany, NY 12207.
