The sun is shining here in Albany, and while there are a few weeks left of winter, it’s beginning to look and feel a lot like spring! When the flowers start to bloom, the City of Albany will prepare for their signature spring event – the Albany Tulip Festival. This highly anticipated festival attracts visitors from near and far, and recently, it was named one of the top 8 tulip festivals in the United States.
See Over 140,000 Colorful Tulips In Bloom
Now in its 72nd year, Albany Tulip Festival is a celebration of the city’s rich Dutch heritage and wonderful community. It’s held annually during Mother’s Day Weekend and features over 140,000 colorful tulips in 150 different varieties, world-class live entertainment, artisans and artists, delicious food, and a number of traditions. The event showcases both local culture and area businesses.
In a recent article, travel website TravelAwaits.com named Albany Tulip Festival one of the top tulip festivals in the nation. For them, some of the reasons you should attend include the tulip tours, the traditional street-scrubbing parade and participants in Dutch costumes, the fine art exhibits, and the music. Plus, admission is free!
