About two weeks ago, the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market announced the opening of their new virtual market called Troy Waterfront Farmers Market Online. This online ordering system features items from over 50 local vendors, making it a great way to support the community and get all of your favorite products while the traditional in-person market is closed. Find out how you can start shopping today.
Shop Local & Order From the Virtual Farmers Market
Troy Waterfront Farmers Market Online allows customers in the Capital Region to shop for locally-grown and produced food and goods from the comforts of home. After you register as a customer on their website, you can begin browsing products from participating vendors. The online system makes it easy to add items from multiple vendors to a virtual shopping cart, and then purchase everything with one credit card payment.
In a previously released statement, Zack Metzger, President of the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, said, “The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market has been planning to add an online ordering and pickup system for a while, but the current crisis sprang us into action. Over the next few weeks TWFM Online will grow and evolve to allow the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market to provide another way to help meet local food needs during the COVID-19 crisis.”
Each week, online orders open at 4:00pm on Friday and close on Monday at 9:00am for Wednesday pickup and 9:00am on Thursday for Saturday pickup. Contactless order pickups are being held at Carioto Produce Distribution Center in Green Island.
Metzger also noted that as different crops come into season, the number of items for sale will increase. There is no minimum dollar amount to place an order, and currently no additional fees attached for the customer or vendor.
The Troy Waterfront Farmers Market hopes to reopen their in-person outdoor market in downtown Troy in the near future. When they reopen, there will be new designs and safety measures, and the virtual market will continue operating as well.
