Jennifer Gates, former executive sous chef of Dolce And Biscotti in Clifton Park, has opened a new bakery and cafe in Albany called Sweet Elevation. They are located on the first floor of the building at 12 Corporate Blvd., and almost everything on the menu is made from scratch and sourced locally. Order online or stop in to see their selection of specialty bakery items (some pictured above) and enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch.
City of Albany to Present a Special Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Tribute Video
In celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the City of Albany will present a special tribute video on their Albany Events pages at 12:00pm on Monday, January 18. The video will include the city’s annual wreath laying ceremony, messages from local dignitaries, musical performances, and more.
Pick Up Free Clothing, Food & Supplies at the New Jerusalem Home of the Saved Church
To help those struggling in the community, God’s Soup Kitchen will offer free bagged clothing, lunches, bagged food, coats, and household items on January 21, 28, and February 4 at New Jerusalem Home of the Saved Church in Albany. If you have a need, then stop by from 10:00am-5:00pm, and remember to practice social distancing.

To help ensure the safety of both Girl Scouts and customers during the annual cookie season, Girl Scouts will sell cookies through a Digital Cookie Platform. This is a safe and easy way for Girl Scouts to accept personal orders and for cookie lovers to get all of their favorites. Revitalization Underway at St. Peter’s Health Partners’ Albany Memorial Campus
Located at 600 Northern Blvd. in Albany, St Peter’s Health Partners’ Albany Memorial Campus is currently undergoing a major revitalization. The hospital recently opened the St. Peter’s Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Wellness, which can help patients affected by all types of acute cardiac problems, such as heart and lung disease, valve replacements, and more. And, this month, they are razing the aging East Wing and Building Connector.
Retired Local School Administrator Publishes a Children’s Book
As reported in an article by the Daily Gazette, Deb Manikas Male, Rotterdam native and retired educator and administrator at Mohonasen Central School District, has published a new children’s book titled “Where Will My Shoes Take Me?” The book tells the story of a young boy who puts on different pairs of shoes and goes on exciting adventures. Manikas hopes the book will encourage children to become interested in reading.
