Make It Up State’s The Marketplace: Presented by Make It Up State, The Marketplace is a new weekly market that takes place every Sunday from now through March 28, 2021, at the former Lansingburgh Price Chopper in Troy. The Marketplace features local artisans and food vendors, and the next one is happening this Sunday from 10:00am-2:00pm.
Cupid’s Crush Gift & Craft Expo: Looking for a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift? Stop by ViaPort Rotterdam on February 12-14 during mall hours and check out the Cupid’s Crush Gift & Art Expo. Social distancing and masks are required, and admission is free.

Aloha Krab Coming Soon to Crossgates Mall
A new Cajun seafood restaurant called Aloha Krab is expected to open at Crossgates Mall this year, and they specialize in an array of authentic seafood dishes and modern cuisine. The restaurant will take over the former 5,768 sq. ft. Melting Pot space, located just below the food court.
Local Chef Opens Mr. Bumbles Cafe
According to an article by the Times Union, Brandon Styles, founding chef of Tipsy Moose Tap & Tavern, has recently opened a new breakfast and lunch spot called Mr. Bumbles Cafe, which currently offers a variety of breakfast items, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and smoothies. They are located at 263 New Scotland Avenue in Albany.
New Coworking Space Opens in Downtown Albany
The Albany Business Review has reported that Novel Coworking, a workspace provider with 40 locations across the country, has opened a new coworking space in downtown Albany. Novel Coworking is spread across four floors of the 17-story tower at 68 State Street, and it includes private offices, office suites, and flexible workspaces.
Nominations for the 2021 Albany Tulip Queen Are Open
The City of Albany has announced that they are now seeking nominations for the 2021 Tulip Queen & Court. An Albany tradition that dates back to the late 1940s, the Tulip Queen and her four Tulip Court members are selected by a committee of local leaders after an extensive interview process.
Eligible nominees are young women between the ages of 18-24 who have a strong sense of community, knowledge of the Albany area and its history, leadership skills, and will reside in Albany County for the entire year of their reign. See the nomination form: http://www.albanytulipqueen.com/nominate/
Try Ice Fishing in the Capital Region
New York State has designated this weekend, February 13-14, a Free Fishing Weekend, which means everyone is welcome to try ice fishing in the state, no license required. However, make sure you are well prepared and check the ice thickness before fishing.
If you have experience ice fishing, then consider participating in the Sand Lake Kiwanis 2nd Annual Ice Fishing Tournament on Burden Lake on February 13. Registration begins at 5:00am, and the tournament will run from 6:00am-2:00pm.
