Now more than ever, it’s important to shop and support local, and that’s why Make It Up State has partnered with the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market to launch The Marketplace, a new Sunday marketplace showcasing local handmade goods and food. This weekend, The Marketplace will spread the love with a Valentine’s Day-themed market on Sunday, February 14.
Let’s Support Our Small Businesses, Makers & Artisans
From now through March 28, 2021, The Marketplace will take place every Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the former Lansingburgh Price Chopper (865 2nd Avenue, Troy, NY). This building is also the winter home of the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, which is held on Saturdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm.
According to a press release, Erin Pihlaja, co-owner and co-founder of Make It Up State and former executive director of the Downtown Troy BID, said “We wanted to create a COVID compliant opportunity for local makers, artisans, and small businesses – many of whom are fighting to stay open in the time leading up to outdoor vending.”
The next market is this Sunday, Valentine’s Day, and it will feature sweets, treats, giveaways, a scavenger hunt, love songs, and more. In addition, the first 100 customers will receive a free 4-ounce bottle of locally crafted hand sanitizer from Schenectady Distilling Company, one of the vendors.
“We have a rotating lineup of over 50 vendors producing unique and useful goods to please anyone on your list,” said Lynette Tarrats, co-owner and co-founder of Make It Up State.
The Marketplace follows all COVID-19 safety procedures and regulations that the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market has enacted, including the required wearing of masks by guests, socially distanced shopping and vending, and regulated occupancy.
