Get Ready to Ride During the 5th Season of CDPHP Cycle!
Are you ready to go biking this spring? If so, then you’ll be happy to hear that Season 5 of CDPHP Cycle! started on April 5 and will continue through November.
CDPHP Cycle! is a Capital Region bike sharing program operated by the Capital District Transportation Authority – CDTA and CDPHP. Over 400 rental bikes are available at more than 80 bike rack stations in Albany, Troy, Schenectady, Cohoes, and Saratoga Springs, and registered users can unlock any of them and begin riding. To get started, visit the CDPHP Cycle! website or download the app today. It’s an easy and affordable way to get around Albany and other communities.
Schenectady Greenmarket Kicks Off Outdoor Market Season
The Schenectady Greenmarket is one of the Capital Region’s most popular farmers markets, and starting on Sunday, April 11, you will be able to find them set up outside Schenectady City Hall. Their outdoor market season will take place every Sunday, 10:00am-2:00pm, from April 11 through November 2021. Swing by and browse a variety of fresh produce and goods from local vendors.
New Albany Meadery & Tasting Room Prepares for Grand Opening

Take a drive down Hamilton Street in Albany, and you’ll see a massive street art mural depicting the Minotaur and bees. This artwork is located at the new Bull and Bee: Meadery & Tasting Room, which offers small batch mead made in-house and other alcoholic beverages from local producers.
This month, The Bull and Bee will be conducting a number of soft openings ahead of their Grand Opening (date TBD). Be sure to follow them on their Facebook page for all the latest announcements!
Shop the New Online Store of the New York State Capitol
Earlier this week the Times Union reported that the official online store of the New York State Capitol opened to the public. The store features items that were previously only available at the Empire State Plaza Visitor Center and Gift Shop in Albany, including face masks and apparel, souvenirs and gifts, and more.
Although the Plaza Visitor Center is open with new social distancing rules in place, this online store is a convenient way to browse their products at home.
DeFazio’s Pizzeria Teams Up With Albany Distilling Co.
Whether you like pizza or cocktails, you’ll soon be able to enjoy both at Albany Distilling Co. thanks to their new partnership with DeFazio’s Pizzeria. The Troy pizza shop is bringing their authentic Italian wood fired pizza to the Albany Distilling Company Bar and Bottle Shop around early May of this year.
According to theĀ Albany Business Review, DeFazio’s will take over the 500-square-foot garage space and former bottle shop in Albany Distilling Co.’s building and establish a pizza shop. When the renovations are complete and the pizza shop opens, they will offer counter dining only.
Step Aboard the USS Slater in Albany
After closing for the winter, the USS Slater in Albany reopened to the public this week on Wednesday, April 7. The USS Slater is the last World War II-era destroyer escort still afloat in America, and it is now open on Wednesdays through Sundays from 10:00am-4:00pm. Guided tours begin every 30 minutes, and visitors can call ahead to reserve a time slot.
