Bring the Family to the Saint Sophia Greek Festival
For the first time since 2019, the Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany will host its traditional in-person festival this weekend, May 13 – 15. Similar to past years, the Greek Festival will feature a fantastic selection of Greek food and pastries, a marketplace with over 20 vendors, and live Greek music and dancing. Admission is just $5 for adults, while kids under 12 are free.

The Outdoor Food Vendors Have Returned to the Empire State Plaza
Craving some delicious lunch food in downtown Albany? Take a walk over to the Empire State Plaza for Lunchtime at the Plaza, which officially kicked off on Wednesday, May 11. On weekdays from 11:00am-2:00pm, your favorite food trucks and vendors will be selling food and drinks outdoors around the northeast corner of the Plaza near The Egg.
Try Fun & Unique Corn Dogs at Crossgates Mall’s Newest Eatery
Kong Dog, a corn dog eatery renowned for offering delicious corn dogs with fun toppings like ramen crumbles, crunchy fruity rice puffs, and Hot Cheetos, recently opened its first New York location at Crossgates Mall. Customers can choose their corn dog’s filling and then coat it in one of the unique toppings. Check them out during your next trip to the mall.
Play Ball! The Tri-City ValleyCats’ Opening Day Is Nearly Here
Nothing beats taking the family to a baseball game, and on Tuesday, May 17, the Capital Region’s own Tri-City ValleyCats will host their first home game of the 2022 season at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy. Cheer on the home team as they face off against the Lake Erie Crushers at 6:30pm. There will also be a post-game fireworks display.
Motor Oil Coffee Prepares to Expand and Open Retail Locations
The locally owned and operated Motor Oil Coffee has announced plans to open two retail locations in the Capital Region, reports the Times Union. Motor Oil Coffee’s products are currently available online and in-person at car shows, farmers markets, festivals, and other events; however, there will soon be two permanent locations where you can get your caffeine fix.
The first new retail location will be within the 518 Craft tasting room at 200 Broadway in Troy. Regular operations are expected to begin on May 16, and you’ll be able buy bags of coffee, hot and cold beverages, and baked goods. The second location, which will become their flagship store, will open in Albany’s warehouse district this summer (store address TBA).
