If you’ve ever seen the classic movie “Woodstock” — or actually attended the legendary festival in 1969 — you might do a double-take driving on Route 20 in New Lebanon, Columbia County these days.

Both sides of the road are being transformed into Sullivan County, NY, circa 1969, in the days leading up to the now legendary Woodstock festival. The movie is being directed by Ang Lee, of “Brokeback Mountain” fame.

“It’s a little exciting to see things happening,” Billy Culhane of Culhane Autos on Route 20 observed of the commotion surrounding the feature-film shoot.

Filmmakers will recreate the massive traffic jams that shut down the New York State Thruway, not to mention the road leading to Woodstock ‘69. But this time in New Lebanon, businesses won’t suffer.

Culhane said his business would be compensated while Route 20 is shut down for a few days [...]
