Benoit, Rosato join organization
(Albany) – The Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the addition of Christopher Benoit as a membership associate and Carissa Rosato as events and program manager.
Benoit rejoins the Chamber as a membership associate, a role in which he will focus on membership sales. He spent the past four-and-a-half years in advertising/circulation sales at the Times Union. Previously, he worked for the Chamber from 1997-2001 selling advertising for Visions magazine, the Member Directory and the Chamber’s Web site. A graduate of JCA and The College of Saint Rose, with a bachelor’s degree in communications, Benoit lives in Clifton Park with his wife and son. He can be reached at 518.431.1421.

ALBANY NY — October 2008 — New York State Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner John C. Egan announced this month that OGS will once again offer special tours of the New York State Capitol that will explore the legends, folklore and “ghost stories” connected to the historic building in downtown Albany. The “Capitol Hauntings Tours” are free and open to the public. Reservations are required for the tours and each tour is limited to 30 participants.
Daily tours will be offered Monday through Friday until October 31 at 2 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. On Saturday, October 25, tours will be offered at 2 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 7 p.m.

EAP Receives 2008 Award for Excellence from New York State
(Albany) –The Capital Chamber Foundation, Inc. of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce has earned the New York State Entrepreneurial Assistance Program 2008 Award for Excellence from Empire State Development Corporation (ESDC).
The award recognizes the Chamber’s Entrepreneurial Assistance Program (EAP) for outstanding program performance and achievement in all program areas and dedication to the entrepreneurs of New York state.
Administered locally by the Chamber and funded by the ESDC, the state’s EAP is designed to provide business assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs, increase the formation of new businesses and strengthen the operations of businesses during the early stages of development.

Organizations, individuals to be honored at fourth annual luncheon
(Albany) – The Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council –– a shared initiative of the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce and The Chamber of Schenectady County –– will honor successful nonprofit organizations and outstanding community-minded individuals at the fourth annual Tech Valley Nonprofit Business Council Luncheon.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Colonie. KeyBank and Time Warner Cable Business Class are the major sponsors of the awards luncheon, and CDPHP is the video sponsor.

Ambassadors of Hope and Civic Engagement, (“AHCE”), in partnership with Schenectady Chapter of ACORN will host a “VOTE FOR CHANGE” party fest specifically targeting communities with little to no political voice. An event designed by a few citizens reaching out to empower those whom have lost hope that their vote matters. The event is open to all, despite political persuasions.
Schenectady, NY: The AHCE, stemmed from a Barack Obama volunteer group that has registered 300 new voters to date in the city of Schenectady needy communities. It began with one person, registered under the Independence party, going from door to door and quickly joined by others, through the Barack internet network, in addition to those whom responded behind the doors to join forces.
