Discount Haircuts for the Unemployed of New York State

ALBANY NY — Stiletto Salon at 1315 Central Avenue in Albany, NY will be offering $.99 haircuts to the unemployed people of New York State for one week beginning Saturday, March 14th 9 am-5 pm through Saturday, March 21st 2009 9am-5 pm.

To take advantage of this offer, people must show a valid unemployment card and matching ID at time of check-in. An appointment must be made in advance.

ALBANY NY — Albany Public Library and United Way’s CA$H Coalition offer advice for surviving the money crunch at the Financial Resources Fair on January 31, 2009. Capital Region residents will have the opportunity to meet people from area agencies and organizations who have information and resources that may be able to help.

The fair is sponsored by the United Way’s CA$H Coalition and Albany Public Library. On this same day, the library will kick off their walk-in VITA income tax assistance program. The Tech Valley Global Business Network (TVGBN), and the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University at Albany (NanoCollege) will provide a first-of-its-kind forum for Tech Valley businesses to meet trade representatives of foreign countries through a program with the New York City-based Foreign Trade Commissioners Association. Business executives will have the opportunity to discuss prospects for global trade and investment during the event on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at CNSE’s Albany NanoTech Complex.

The event, sponsored by Empire State Development, will bring the region’s leaders in business, economic development, academia and government together with foreign trade officials from the Foreign Trade Commissioners Association to network and exchange ideas for international business growth in Tech Valley.
