Franchise sets new attendance milestones in 2011
TROY, N.Y. (September 6, 2011) – The Tri-City ValleyCats 2011 season has ended without a chance to defend their New York-Penn League title. However, the franchise has plenty to celebrate.
For the eighth consecutive season the ValleyCats set a new single-season
attendance record. 156,279 fans passed through the gates of Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in 2011, nearly 1,000 more fans than 2010. That averages out to 4,341 per game, an increase from the 4,314 average in 2010.
The ValleyCats reached the 100,000 attendance mark before the month of August for the first time since they arrived in Troy in 2002 and three dates from 2011 sit in the top ten all-time crowds at “The Joe.” Those dates include the single-game attendance
record of 7,119 fans set during Time Warner Cable Customer Appreciation Night on
July 9, 6,888 on the Fourth of July and 6,052 on July 16.
Promotions once again paved the way for another successful season at “The Joe,”
which included fifteen fireworks shows, two bobblehead giveaways, a star wars night, breast cancer awareness day with a pink jersey auction, two camp days, five Tunes for Tuesday pre-game concerts and a 50 cent hot dog night featuring a hot dog eating
contest.
Now that the offseason has officially begun, there is plenty of work to do to prepare for 2012. The ValleyCats look to be a very active member of the Capital Region community during the fall, winter and spring months, so keep up with the ‘Cats by checking their website at www.tcvalleycats.com.
