Albany, NY – The Capital Region Rotary Club is participating in a new project to provide toys and activities to the young patients at The Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center.

“Bins of Fun” will provide the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center with 13 bins filled with toys and activities for use by the hospital’s young patients. The bins will be presented to the hospital on Friday, April 5th, at 10am.

Lake Luzerne, NY – September 12, 2012 – the Double H Ranch is proud to announce the marriage of Arthur, their donkey who thinks he’s a horse, to Reeve, a miniature horse. The marriage ceremony took place July 28th (original date July 27 but Arthur got cold hooves causing the delay) during Session 5 of Summer Residential Camp at the Double H Ranch. Mini-horse Destiny served as Maid of Honor, goat Figaro was ring bearer and other goats, rabbits and guinea pigs completed the wedding party. The Assistant Director of Operations officiated over the proceedings and Nurse Troy stood in as father of the bride. All Session 5 Double H campers, staff and volunteers were in attendance. Following the ceremony cake was shared by all. The couple departed for a honeymoon in the front of the barnyard.

East Greenbush, October 26, 2011: The New York Alliance for Donation, has been awarded two grants, totaling over $500,000 per year for statewide research that will test out new methods of educating Department of Motor Vehicles customers and employees about organ donation. This award comes from the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the US Department of Health and Human Services. The grants will also fund a Challenge for Life campaign with groups who are interested in helping with the cause or organ donation education, over the next two years. The need for the grants was outlined in the grant proposal—New York has the third lowest donor enrollment in the US. These grants will inform the research on how to close that gap among adults in New York.

Ms. Miller is a senior fundraiser and manager, with extensive experience with capital campaigns and direct solicitation of donors. She has significant experience in annual giving, major gifts, estate and planned gifts, working with alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations. She has been an Associate Director and Director of Admissions for Cornell University in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences. The Federal Trade Commission has launched the website and blog for National Consumer Protection Week (NCPW) 2011, to be held March 6-12. The annual event, now in its 13th year, is hosted by the FTC and nearly 30 other government agencies, consumer groups, and national organizations. The website, www.ncpw.gov, provides information about consumer rights, and promotes free resources to help consumers protect their privacy, manage credit and debt, avoid identity theft, understand mortgages, and recognize frauds and scams.
