ALBANY NY — The largest Wal-Mart Supercenter in the US is located in Albany NY! On May 17, 2008 the newly renovated and expanded Crossgates Commons Wal-Mart Supercenter in Albany held its grand openening, inviting the community to visit the largest Wal-Mart in the US.
This two-story Wal-Mart is fully equipped with discount merchandise, groceries, a deli... and even a special escalator for shopping carts! The shopping cart escalator runs alongside the regular escalator, releasing each cart shortly after the shopper steps off.
Wal-Mart’s 2300 Supercenters across the nation typically average 187,000 square feet. The Crossgates Commons Wal-Mart Supercenter is nearly 260,000 square feet.
After the closing of Sam’s Club in May 2006, the company decided to combine its adjacent Wal-Mart store with the vacant space to create one large Supercenter. Albany NY, we are now home to the largest Wal-Mart Supercenter in the United States!
