The third annual Mac-n-Cheese Bowl to benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York was on Saturday, and the champion has been crowned. The event was held at the Albany Marriott in Colonie and featured 29 restaurants, and ten home cooks.
The event saw more than 2,100 attendees, and raised more than $35,000 for the food bank.

The Judges Best Overall Mac-n-Cheese:
Valente’s – mac-n-cheese with lobster, crab, mascarpone, pecorino and aged provolone.
The People’s Choice:
1st Place: 677 Prime – double bacon cheeseburger mac-n-cheese.
2nd Place: Chez Mike – cheddar-apple ‘Kugel’ mac-n-cheese.
3rd Place: Valente’s – mac-n-cheese with lobster, crab, mascarpone, pecorino and aged provolone.
Kid’s Choice: The Pasta Factory – traditional mac-n-cheese.

You can never really outgrow mac-n-cheese, I still eat it for dinner at least once a month. What you can do, is get creative. I’m always throwing extra stuff in mine, last time I made it I chopped up bacon and jalapeno peppers and mixed them into the sauce before baking! Deeeelish!
