Schenectady County Community College Opens Location In Downtown Albany

3074_1.gifSchenectady County Community College (SCCC) announced on recently that they will be expanding their college into downtown Albany, NY. The new location is going to be at 122 State St. in downtown Albany, on the second floor of the Albany County Office Building.

By having an extension of SCCC in downtown Albany, high school students will have a new option when deciding on where to get a post-high school education. Students in the Capital Region will be able to choose between Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) and SCCC, especially if they have limited means of transportation.

Residents of Albany County will now be able to access to the programs and courses offered through SCCC. Plans are to build six new classrooms and administrative offices in the nearly 10,000-square-foot space for the new satellite location.
Classes are expected to begin at the new site this Fall 2013 semester in the Albany County Office Building.

SCCC is anticipating that parking will be difficult in Albany, for students and teachers, but is taking steps to prevent this. SCCC has arranged that parking for staff, faculty, and student commuters with cars will be available to use the garage on the west side of the Times Union Center, a brief walk away from the new site.

SCCC has a current enrollment of over 7,000 students each semester, and is looking to increase that number by offering an off-site facility

Will you be taking any classes at the new site for SCCC in downtown Albany?
