What's New in Albany, Schenectady & Troy

Community: May 2012 Archives

There are so many great museums in the Capital Region.  The finest of the Empire State can do everything from teach us the geology of the state, to show us original Dancing with the Stars costumes.  This year, New York State is giving us more to love about every museum, as they launch the first ever New York State Museum Week from May 31 to June 6.
Did you know downtown Troy's Riverfront Park is undergoing a complete transformation?

Elizabeth Young, Executive Director for the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District (BID) toured the park this morning and was inspired by the progress taking place there. Young takes us on a journey through the newly developing Riverfront Park in downtown Troy, detailing what she saw and the future of the park, along with a couple of photos.
contest-cats.jpgThe Tri-City ValleyCats are ready to play ball, are you ready to watch? Last season, the 'Cats were filling up Joe Bruno Stadium like never before, and this year should prove to be another great season!

The ValleyCats are a minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros. Last season three players were selected as New York-Penn League All-Stars, and a few were called up to The Show. It's definitely some good quality baseball, and its right in our backyard!

What's even better? We have a bunch of tickets to give away! Enter the giveaway and you could be one of the 20 lucky fans that will win a four pack of tickets ($50 value)! We'll be drawing winners on June 7, July 9, and August 7.
