Catskills Region Skiing
Windham Mountain
Head south of Albany to Windham Mountain, offering a large variety of trails from easier ones to challenge the rookies, to extremely difficult to challenge the expert. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, a tubing hill offers fourteen lanes and three lifts for hours of family fun. Enjoy ice-skating on the new skating rink with fire pit and chalet. Recently in 2006, Windham also offered new trails and added a new High-Speed Detachable Quad Lift.
Hunter Mountain
Slightly farther away from the Capital Region lies Hunter Mountain, with 240 acres of trails and a variety of terrain to challenge all levels. This big mountain offers all the normal ski resort amenities, including lessons, rentals, tubing, lodging, dining and cozy on-site bars for those apres ski drinks by the fire.
Belleayre Mountain
Visit Belleayre, a ski mountain resort great for any level of skier. There are 10 beginner trails, 15 intermediate and 13 expert-rated downhill skiing trails. This ski center offers state-of-the-art grooming and is known as the "best place to learn to ski in the East" Other winter activities include snowboarding and snowboarding.
Holiday Mountain Ski & Fun Park
Located in Monticello, NY in the Catskiils, Holiday Mountain is a fun-filled downhill ski resort offering slopes that are groomed daily using power tillers. The mountain has 9 slopes for every skill level as well as two chalets, and 4 chair lifts. Snow tubing and ice skating are available.
Plattekill Mountain
Venture southwest of Albany for Catskills skiing or snowboarding! There are 35 trails in all - from beginner cruising trails all the way up to double black diamonds with 1,100 feet of continuous vertical drop. The family-run Plattekill Mountain also offers lift-serviced snow tubing for every age.
