A former school psychologist and current International business performance coach creates Launch Your Life, a coaching program to help students achieve career and life goals, needs the help of his community.
Using weekly one-on-one coaching, the Launch Your Life program aims at helping high schoolers achieve in the real world by specifically concentrating on setting goals, strategies for success, self-discipline, motivational tips, rebounding from mistakes, time management and other habit-forming lessons.
The idea for the campaign has come to life thanks to Steve Simons, co-founder of Launch Your Life; Robert Braathe, professor at Saratoga College; Sandy Ingrando, founder of Match Point Executive Coaching; and Gina Castelli, the former Siena Women’s basketball coach and current head coach at LeMoyne College..
“As a business performance coach . . . working with high-achieving business people, I learned the power and necessity of [goal setting and self discipline] and how lacking they are in so many people.” explains Simons of the idea behind creating a coaching program to instill success habits for life, something that may not be taught in the classroom.
Simons and the Launch Your Life team of psychologists, athletic coaches, teachers, principals and marketers now are turning to the community to ask for donations to continue to expand the program throughout the United States.
“We went through a great deal of evolution and change, but thanks to Skype, e-mail and phone we are are active throughout the United States and in the foreseeable future we hope to be available in Europe,” exclaims Simons, whose program intends to strengthen already driven and able students.
Launch Your Life, which is based in Delmar, NY, helps students prepare for the successes and failures of life after high school but covering topics such as Goal Setting, Personal Growth, Motivation and Pride, Being “In The Zone,” Personal Leadership, Time Management, Critical Thinking, Public Speaking and Judgment.
“This is not a knowledge gain program but a coaching program to build or strengthen success habits,” says Simons. “Knowing is not doing.”
According to Simons, Launch Your Life does the following:
- builds the student’s ‘success infrastructure’ including visioning/dreaming, goal-setting, planning, prioritization, self-discipline, time maximization and habit change
- will strengthen, accelerate and assure their life and career success
- gives high-schoolers the tools and the practice to develop the success habits so many people don’t have, even now.
A donation of $175 can help assist one student and Launch Your Life is offering perks for certain amounts of donations as well, which is best for parents: $20 gets your name on the website, $75 gets you a 20-minute assessment and strategy conference about one student, for every $200 there is a 60-minute call coaching call from Simons, and for any donation of $500 or more a student of your choosing will be placed in the program for one 4-month semester of Launch Your Life coaching.
